Congratulations to Annette Harrison – a Senior Youth Engagement Workers with the Youth Service - who has been named the winner of the Leadership Award at the Youth Work Excellence Awards 2026.
The award recognised Annette's outstanding leadership, vision and dedication in transforming outdoor youth work across the Vale of Glamorgan.
Her commitment to listening to and empowering both young people and staff has helped create a culture where ideas are valued, confidence is nurtured and innovation is encouraged.
Annette’s award also coincides perfectly with Youth Work Week – a week dedicated to recognising the work of those who those who go above and beyond every day to support our young people.
The Youth Work Excellence Awards celebrate outstanding youth work practice across Wales and recognise individuals who demonstrate excellence in supporting and empowering young people.
Annette's leadership in her role within the Vale Youth Service has been instrumental in expanding initiatives including the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the Warm Space community programme and the Hive Guys intergenerational project.
Her achievement is a testament to the positive impact of youth work across the Vale and the dedication she brings to helping young people realise their potential.
