Vale Flying Start staff support National No Smoking Day

16 March 2026

Flying Start around the Vale of Glamorgan have been raising awareness of the harms of smoking as part of a national awareness campaign.

smoking1Using resources provided by the local Public Health team - Flying Start Health Manager Kate Herrington and Emma Selby, a Flying Start Childcare Manager, have been working alongside Health visitors, Early Years and Parenting Staff to engage parents at the Flying Start family centre and at groups - including Breast feeding, Under ones Stay and Play and Parent and Toddler Yoga.

Together they have been having conversations about smoking, offering advice, and signposting families to support services and resources available across the Vale to help quit smoking.

Kate Herrington, Flying Start Health Manager supporting the campaign said: “National No Smoking Day is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the support available to help people stop smoking in the Vale. By working together with the Flying Start teams and speaking directly with families, we can encourage positive changes that benefit both parents and children's health”
