Coast and Countryside

The Vale of Glamorgan has a diverse range of plants, animals and habitats. Our Rangers are responsible for conservation work, on-site maintenance, public rights of way path maintenance, habitat creation, biodiversity recording and delivering an Environmental Education Programme to schools.

Rangers are based at the Heritage Coast Centre, part of the Countryside Service that work across the Vale of Glamorgan. The ranger team works along the Glamorgan Heritage Coast as well as across the Vale.

  • Maintenance of Dunraven Gardens and Public Rights of Way footpaths.
  • Habitat management and biodiversity recording

Biodiversity

Biodiversity simply means the variety of life. It includes all living things from the smallest flea to the biggest tree.

You will see biodiversity everywhere in the Vale: in town gardens and window boxes, woods, roadsides, open countryside, rivers and coast.

The Vale supports a rich and varied wildlife: hedgerows, woodlands, river valleys and coast shape our landscape and provide food and habitat for mammals and birds.
