Composting

Home composting is a great way of saving money and an environmentally-friendly way of reducing your rubbish


Items suitable for home composting:

  • Hedge clippings
  • Weeds
  • Plants, leaves, flowers and twigs
  • Vacuum dust
  • Cardboard egg boxes (torn)
  • Tea bags
  • Straw and hay
  • Coffee grounds
  • Egg shells
  • Animal bedding from herbivores

 

You need a 50:50 balance between fast and slow rotters, examples include:
