Garden Waste

From March to November your Garden Waste is collected every other week. December - February we operate a ring and request service for collections.


Garden waste collections take place between 7.00am - 10.00pm on your collection day.

Don’t forget to place any waste fruit in your food waste containers for collection where possible.


If there is too much to fit in your food waste caddy you can fill your garden waste bag and place out for collection on your black bag day.


Please clearly label the bag as windfall fruit.



The following items can be added to your garden waste bags:

  • Grass
  • Shrub cuttings
  • Leaves
  • Plants
  • Flowers
  • Most weeds
  • Hedge clippings
  • Soil
  • Food waste
  • Logs
  • Rubble
  • Animal waste
  • Invasive weeds e.g Japanese Knotweed

Garden Waste Bags 

Your garden waste must be placed in an official garden waste bag. Green waste that is contained in any other container will not be collected.


When filling your bag please exercise common sense as how full / heavy to fill it. If you struggle to lift it, so will our crews.


Bags can be purchased from the Dock Offices, The Alps Depot, either Barry, Llantwit Major, Cowbridge or Penarth libraries and West House, Penarth. 


Reusable Bags Cost: £2.00 each
