Street Lighting

Manage and maintain street lights and illuminated items of road furniture, including signs, bollards, zebra and school crossings flashing units

We identify faults and arrange for repairs to be rectified on time by replacing obsolete, damaged or inefficient lights. There are a number of different types of street lighting across the Vale of Glamorgan.

Part-Night Lighting

The Council's proposal to introduce part-night lighting and reduce energy consumption was agreed by cabinet in October 2014.

The project reduced the Council's Co2 emissions and made a significant contribution to a reduction in energy costs.

LED Street Lighting

The Council has been installing new LED street lights in all residential streets as part of a £1.4 million investment project.

LED lights have a much longer lifespan and require less maintenance than the traditional sodium lamps, they are highly energy efficient, reduce carbon emissions and cost less than a quarter of conventional lighting in energy consumption.
