JEHU Group hold open day at Vale of Glamorgan Council housing development
An open day was held at the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Brecon Court housing development in Barry by the Jehu Group, who are delivering the project.
Gibbonsdown Ward Members Julie Aviet and Margaret Wilkinson attended along with representatives of Jehu.
The aim was to answer any resident questions about a £3.5 million scheme to increase the Council’s housing stock.
Jehu are in the process of constructing 28 new purpose-built homes to meet local demand.
Located on the former sheltered accommodation site, the scheme will consist of nine two-bedroom houses, four three-bedroom family houses and 15 one-bedroom apartments reserved for older people.

art funded by the Welsh Government, all of the new properties will be constructed to their standards for social housing, providing accommodation for those in the community that need it most.
Miles Punter, Vale of Glamorgan Council Director for Housing and Environment, said: “This development is part of wider Council plans to increase its housing stock and satisfy much-needed local demand for accommodation of this type.
“The proposals for the site were drafted after widespread consultation with interested local parties and should be of real benefit to the community.
“The range of different properties being constructed can provide comfortable places to live for families, couples and older residents.
“It also sees a previously disused site revived to provide an important function within the area.”
Geraint Thomas, Jehu Site Manager for the Brecon Court development commented: “It was great to meet more of the local residents at the open event this week, we are going to be part of this community for some months.
We find the best way to keep the site and the surrounding area flowing is to work with the community, this way we keep disruption to a minimum.”
