Originally a community initiative, both local artists and artists from around the world took part, submitting over 100 entries in total.

It showcases a variety of media including textiles, painting, drawing and photography, as well as song and video. Alongside and as part of the artwork, the exhibition reflects the stories of individuals and families throughout the outbreak.

This is the third online exhibition launched by Art Central and is amongst a host of other arts opportunities that have gone digital due to the pandemic.

Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Culture, Cllr Kathryn McCaffer said,

“The arts have played a huge role in helping people cope with the effects of the pandemic. Most of us have felt isolated, confined and been unable to take part in our day-to-day activities.

"As we can’t visit the Gallery at the moment, it’s brilliant to see so many organisations thinking on their feet and migrating online, continuing to find ways for the community to express themselves, be it through art, dance, music or theatre. Now we have the chance to view all of these pieces.

“Undoubtedly, these opportunities have helped ease the impacts on our mental health and well-being, most notably the isolation we’ve collectively experienced.”

The exhibition will remain online until it can be shown at Art Central Gallery. You can find it on the Art Central Gallery webpage.
