The site is now home to a brand-new 3G rugby pitch, sports hall, 3-storey teaching block and bus drop-off. The main entrance building has also been rebuilt.

The works were completed ahead of the Autumn school term.

A multi-use games area, which can be used for up to six different activities was also handed over last year.

The project is part of the Council’s 21st Century Schools programme which is part funded by Welsh Government. Works will continue until August 2021 and will include a full internal refurbishment, new Design and Technology block, internal access core building and Learning Resource Centre.

The new facilities will see the school’s capacity increase from 1,361 to 1,660.

Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Education, Cllr Lis Burnett said: “I’m delighted to see the completion and handover of this next phase of works at the school.

“The 21st Century Schools project will see Ysgol Bro Morgannwg emerge as an ultra-modern school and is part of a far-reaching programme to transform educational infrastructure across the county.

“Pupils and communities in the Vale of Glamorgan will benefit enormously from this substantial investment in first class school buildings and facilities.”
