Audio Trail EngThe project is being funded by the Welsh Government’s Transforming Towns scheme and is being produced by place-making consultancy firm, The means.

QR codes will be used to transport visitors to another era with bitesize stories from 1890 to 2020 that are unique to Barry. The experience uses the latest binaural technology and aims to draw people back to the high street and reconnect them to the community.

Each piece has been inspired by true stories, gathered through an extensive research and engagement process. The pieces are bilingual, and have been performed by members of the local community.

Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Education and Regeneration, Cllr Lis Burnett said:

“This is a fantastic project that will bring the rich heritage of Barry to life in a fun and accessible way. Most of the stories are under two minutes long, which means shoppers can listen to them whilst browsing the town centres.

“We’re hoping that by making these stories visible and easy to consume, we’ll draw in a new audience who may not normally visit a museum or art gallery. We’re also very pleased to have been able to do this bilingually and showcase our own pool of local talent.”

The experience launches 09 April and runs for 6 months.
