The PSB has a responsibility to develop and deliver a Well-being Plan, which includes our long-term vision for the Vale and our priorities for improving local well-being.

The Public Services Board (PSB) brings together senior leaders from public and third sector organisations across the Vale of Glamorgan to work in partnership for a better future.

The new Well-being Plan sets out three new Well-being Objectives and priority areas that the Board will be focusing on over the coming years. These are:

  • A more resilient and greener Vale
  • A more active and healthier Vale
  • A more equitable and connected Vale

The plan sets out 19 steps that partners will take over the next five years to achieve these objectives, such as encouraging and enabling people of all ages to be more active, and promoting the benefits of embracing a healthier lifestyle.

Cllr Lis Burnett, Leader of the Council and Chair of the PSB, said, “We understand that the Vale of Glamorgan is a diverse area, and its communities have very different needs, aspirations, and concerns. It’s important to note that this Plan aims to improve local well-being over the next five years. We are operating in extremely challenging times, but we will always work with our partners to ensure that we are meeting the needs of current and future generations.”

The Well-being Plan has been informed by an assessment of well-being in the Vale, which was published earlier this year, and a programme of engagement with the public which was undertaken over the summer.

The Well-being Assessment sets out some of the key issues for the Vale in terms of the climate and nature emergencies. Through this Plan partners are committing to working together to tackle these issues. This will include consideration of transport, energy, food, biodiversity and how we use our buildings and land.

The PSB would like to hear from as many people as possible to ascertain whether the right priorities have been identified in the Plan to improve local well-being. This consultation will run for a period of 12 weeks, until 29 January 2023.

During this period PSB partners will be meeting with key stakeholders to discuss the contents of the Plan.
