civic2A Sheltered Housing Scheme will undergo a raft of improvements to ensure it conforms to the highest standards.

Longmeadow Court, a retirement complex in Cowbridge consisting of 24 flats, will benefit from new roof coverings, facias, windows, doors, wall insulation, a porch and more.

Between 2012 and 2018, the Council delivered a Major Improvement Programme to bring the condition of its housing stock up to the requirements of the Welsh Housing Quality Standard (WHQS).

Since then, the Authority has continued to maintain these properties, while also working to make them more environmentally friendly in line with Project Zero, its plan to become carbon neutral by 2030.

SMK Building & Maintenance Ltd have been selected as the contractor to carry out the work.

Cllr Mark Wilson, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Housing and Building Services, said: “As a Council it’s important that we not only provide accommodation of a high standard, but also keep these properties at that level.

“This improvement work will ensure Longmeadow Court continues to offer a comfortable, safe, properly maintained home for its residents.

“This is just one example of ongoing work taking place to look after our housing stock with more upgrades in the pipeline.”
