Vale of Glamorgan
Nearly 33 per cent of entrants achieved either an A or A* A Level grade, with 81.8 per cent gaining an A* to C grades and 98.4 per cent A* to E.
It was a similar story in A/S level examinations where 26.8 per cent of papers were graded A, 67.5 per cent A to C and 90.7 per cent A to E.
“I’d like to pass on my best wishes to all students in the Vale who received their A and AS level results recently,” said Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language. “Congratulations to the many who are celebrating after another excellent performance for the county. A lot of effort has gone into achieving this success, so I hope our sixth-form pupils enjoy their moment. “A great deal of hard work is also put in by teachers and school staff, alongside support from parents, and these groups also deserve recognition at a time like this. “I’d encourage pupils to savour their accomplishments, and whatever the next step is, I wish them every success for the future. “Of course, not everyone will have received the results they wanted. For anyone in that position, support and information is available from the Welsh Joint Education Committee and Careers Wales.”
