The popular annual event will take place on Wednesday 22 July 2026, from 10am to 3pm at Pencoedtre Park, Barry, offering a day packed with free activities, entertainment and opportunities for families to come together and enjoy the school holidays.

Over the past decade, the Family Fun Day has grown significantly in both size and popularity, becoming a much-loved fixture in the community calendar. What began as a relatively small event in Victoria Park has developed into a major celebration that attracts families from across the Vale at Pencoedtre Fields.

This year's event is particularly special as Flying Start marks 20 years of supporting families and young children, helping thousands of children get the best possible start in life through a range of services and support.

Families can look forward to a wide variety of attractions including activities, reptiles, bikes, a bouncy castle, face painting, Circus Skills, food stalls and much more. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and make a day of it. Entry is free.

Flying Start has supported generations of families across the Vale of Glamorgan, providing access to early years support, parenting assistance, childcare provision and health services that help children thrive during their vital early years.

Cllr Eddie Williams, Cabinet Member for Social Care, said:
"Flying Start has made a real difference to the lives of children and families across the Vale over the past 20 years. This Family Fun Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate that achievement, bring communities together and recognise the positive impact the service continues to have every day.

"We are incredibly proud of the dedicated teams who support families throughout the year, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to what promises to be another fantastic event."
