Vale Services Celebrate Success at Bro Radio Community Awards
The Vale of Glamorgan Council has been recognised for its outstanding contributions to community life following success at the Bro Radio Community Awards.
At the awards ceremony, Penarth Pier Pavilion was named winner of the Heritage, Arts and Culture Award, recognising its significant contribution to the arts, heritage and cultural life of the Vale of Glamorgan.
The award was accepted on behalf of the Pavilion team by Leah Staff, Cultural Venue Co-ordinator, reflecting the dedication and hard work of everyone involved in delivering the venue’s varied programme of cultural activities and events.
The evening also saw recognition for the Vale Domestic Abuse Service’s Survivor Photography Project, with an exhibition displayed at Art Central Gallery nominated in the Triumph Over Adversity category. The project showcases the experiences and resilience of survivors through photography and creative expression.
In addition, Stacey Long, Post-16 Transition Lead at Ysgol y Deri, was named Entrepreneur of the Year for her role in helping to establish the Hubbub Shop in Penarth.
The initiative provides students with valuable opportunities to develop life skills and gain work experience in a real-world retail environment, demonstrating how inclusive enterprise can make a meaningful difference to young people and the wider community.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language, said: "It is wonderful to see so many people and projects from across the Vale recognised at these awards. Behind every nomination and every award is a story of care, compassion and a genuine commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.
"Penarth Pier Pavilion has become a much-loved part of our community, bringing people together through arts, culture and heritage, and this award is a testament to the hard work of everyone involved. It was also inspiring to see the Survivor Photography Project recognised for giving survivors a powerful platform to share their experiences, and to celebrate Stacey Long's achievement in creating opportunities that help young people build confidence and develop important life skills.”
The Bro Radio Community Awards bring together individuals, organisations and community groups from across the Vale of Glamorgan to celebrate achievement in areas including community life, business, sport, education and the third sector.
