£65,000 investment brings a brighter future to Penarth Pier Pavilion Cinema
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is delighted to announce that Penarth Pier Pavilion Cinema has secured £65,000 from the Arts Council of Wales’ Arts Capital Investment Fund.
The award will enable the Penarth Pier Pavilion to invest in modern projection and sound equipment, transforming the cinema experience for local audiences. Customers will benefit from a brighter, sharper and crisper picture, enhanced sound quality and more reliable screenings.
At the heart of the project will be the replacement of the cinema’s ageing projector with modern laser-projection technology. The new equipment will provide an immediate improvement for audiences in both display and sound while offering greater energy efficiency and reduced maintenance requirements.
Cllr Rhiannon Birch, Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have secured this investment for Penarth Pier Pavilion Cinema. This investment recognises the impact since the cinema has moved back to a full time model in Penarth, and represents an exciting new chapter for our much-loved venue and making a real and immediate difference to everyone who comes through our doors.
“Our audiences will be able to enjoy films with a sharper picture, improved sound and a more dependable cinema experience. Most importantly, this investment allows us to continue developing an ambitious, welcoming and high-quality cinema programme for the communities we serve.”

This investment will help safeguard that offer for the future and ensure the Pavilion continues to be a vibrant destination for film, culture and shared experiences in the heart of Penarth.
