Setting up 'Date Days'

We undertook a call out to all activity providers to run a series of activities.  11 different activity providers were selected to provide a range of activities including French language classes, crafts, cooking, outdoor earning, relaxation, dance, circus skills and even military fitness

sessions.

The pilot ran from April to October 2018 in 4 communities in the rural Vale (St Athan, Wenvoe, Rhoose and Ystradowen).

 Promotion of 'Date Days'

These activities were marketed as 'Date Days' and offered families in the rural Vale something different to do over the summer and spend some quality time together.  The activities were promoted in social media, the Primary Times and the Gem.  Posters and leaflets were distributed around

the local community and in community venues.  Each provider also undertook their own marketing of the activities.

The activities were booked online through this website with links to Ticketsource.  Each provider set their own ticketing prices for parent and child tickets.  No child could attend an activity without a parent or guardian.

The Activities

Although the feedback from parents attending the activities was very positive, the take up was lower than anticipated with a number of activities being cancelled due to low take up.  The activities which were one off rather than weekly sessions proved more popular than those running on a

weekly basis.
