Councillor Carys Stallard

My name is Carys Stallard.  I have lived in Southerndown in the west of the Vale of Glamorgan for over twenty years, raising a family here.  As a councillor, I am proud to represent my community, along with my ward colleague, Councillor Jo Protheroe.

As Mayor I will be doing my best to get around the whole of the Vale of Glamorgan, using public transport where possible – public transport and active travel are among my passions.  Women’s sport is another. And the celebration of the volunteers that make our communities strong will be a focus again this municipal year.

  • About the Mayor

I was brought up in Carmarthenshire in a Welsh-speaking home – Welsh is my first language.

I trained as a journalist and worked for BBC Wales in Cardiff (after a brief period as a volunteer teacher of English as a Second Language at what was then the Open Learning Centre in Holton Road, Barry).
