This work has included:

• Installing nearly 3,500 new kitchens.

• upgrading more than 3,000 bathrooms

• Replacing around 1,000 heating systems and boilers

• Rewiring over 3,500 homes

• Replacing approximately 1,400 roofs

• Installing external wall insulation to in more than 550 homes

• Completing external repairs, including repointing, painting and rendering repairs to nearly 3,000 homes.

The Council has now entered the next phase of the Welsh Housing Quality Standards, which involves maintaining and improving housing stock and neighbourhoods.

Cllr Andrew Parker, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet member for Housing and Building Services, said: “I’m delighted that this reports indicates Vale Council housing tenants are pleased with their properties.

“We fulfilled our obligation under the Welsh Housing Quality Standards well before the 2020 deadline and as a result those in need of social housing in the Vale will enjoy a better standard of living.

“We have also committed a significant sum of money to maintain these properties over the coming years.

“This has been the largest programme of investment in the Council’s housing stock since the homes were built.  The Council is proud to invest in housing for residents and the benefit it provides our tenants goes beyond having a modern home they can be proud of, it also develops neighbourhoods and communities where residents want to live.”
