Vale of Glamorgan
The scheme is part of the wider North Penarth Open Space Improvement Scheme, which is being funded by the section 106 contributions from the developer of Penarth Heights.
A series of workshops will be held for local residents and the local skating community to inform the design of the skatepark.
Cllr Jonathan Bird, Cabinet Member for Regeneration, said:
‘I’m delighted that we have appointed HAGS and Maverick to complete this project, there are some great examples of skate facilities that they have completed throughout the UK. A vital element in getting the design right for this project is involving the local skating community who will use the facility in the design, so I would like to encourage anyone with an interest to attend these workshops.’
The first event will take place on Saturday 9th February at the meeting Room in Penarth Leisure Centre.
Residents are invited to ‘drop in’ anytime between 11:30am and 4pm to find out more about the project. There will also be an opportunity to sign up to take part in further workshops to help design the skatepark and associated artwork.
Upon being appointed, Thomas Griffiths from HAGS said:
“HAGS are delighted to be working with The Vale of Glamorgan Council and Maverick on improving the skate facilities at Cogan Recreation Ground. Involving the local community and those who want to make use of the new facilities will ensure a successful project with the future in mind, we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday 9 February”.
