As part of the three schemes the contractors will collaborate with third and public sector projects to deliver a range of community benefits.

Contractors will offer in-kind donations, volunteer time, opportunities for work experience, training, business advice and upskilling opportunities for volunteers.

Support is available to projects, organisations or social enterprises within the third or public sectors throughout the Vale of Glamorgan. Projects involved in improving outcomes for people, the environment or the local economy will also be eligible.

Speaking of this project the Council’s Director for Learning and Skills, Paula Ham, said:

‘This is an excellent opportunity for local groups to learn about and become a part of the 21st Century Schools Programme. The Council’s aim is for the whole community to benefit from this investment in the future of Education in the Vale of Glamorgan.’

The community benefits project will launch on Wednesday 29 May 2019 with an event at Barry Island. Between 10:00am – 12:00pm local community groups and residents can learn more about the project, meet the developers and take part in a family friendly litter pick to help keep Barry Island tidy.

Volunteers wanting to take part in the litter pick should meet under the Eastern Shelter at 10:00am.
