A short service, along with a two-minute silence, will take place on the Civic Office Forecourt, Barry, in front of the Merchant Seamen Memorial, beginning at 10.45am.

The Mayor, Managing Director and political leaders together with representatives of local organisations will lay wreaths to commemorate the fallen. The ceremony is open to all and members of the public are encouraged to attend and pay their respects. The start and end of the silence will be marked by the playing of the Last Post and Reveille.

Barry Island's Western Shelter has also been lit up in red to mark the day.
