Cllr Neil Moore and Cllr Lis Burnett took part in the morning session, which saw the youngsters discuss what racism is and why people may discriminate against one and other.
The students were then tasked with writing a newspaper article recalling incidences of racism, both historic and more recent.
For the afternoon session, Barry Town and Cwmbran Town players, Kayn Mclaggon and Sean Wharton, took part in a special Q&A session. They were joined by Youth Champion and Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Culture, Cllr Kathryn McAffer.
During the Q&A, pupils posed questions to the trio. These included whether Kayne and Sean had themselves been victims of or had witnessed racial abuse, and what to do if they were faced with racism.
Prizes were given for the best questions.
“We continue to value our partnership with Show Racism the Red Card. The work they do helps ensure that our children are educated about racism, and that they grow up understanding that people of all skin colours and nationalities deserve to be treated equally and with respect. “The pupils were all incredibly engaged and contributed well to the sessions, they all agreed they’d learnt something new.” - Leader of the Council, Cllr Neil Moore.
