The Arts in Isolation - Open Call

The Vale of Glamorgan Council's Arts Development Programme and Art Central Friends are inviting you to submit your work for a virtual exhibition.

Arts-in-isolation

The virtual exhibition will showcase the art works, projects and stories that have been created during the Coronavirus lockdown. 

 

The arts have played a key role during this time of social distancing and isolation. They have allowed us to connect, communicate and entertain and unite communities. The works will later be showcased at Art Central Gallery, Barry and at Cowbridge Old Hall when it is advisable to do so.

 

What to submit

We are asking you to submit one creation that you have either made, are currently making, or plan to make during the lockdown.  Participants can use any source of materials and mediums for their creation that can include, visual, performance, written and any other creative media, for example; a painting, drawing, a song, sculpture, film, photograph, musical performance, dance or mural.


Entry is open to all levels of experience and all ages, with only one submission per person accepted.


Anyone under the age of 18 years must have, via email, permission from a parent or Guardian to submit your work. 

How to submit

Completed submissions will be accepted electronically by email only. Please send as a jpeg, word.doc, or other but no PDF documents. Performance or filmed pieces can be sent via WeTransfer or Dropbox.

The information below must be sent together with your art submission.

  • Name

  • Age (if under 18)

  • Email and telephone number

  • Address and postcode

  • A clear, high resolution image or link as specified

  • Title of submission

  • Details of medium (watercolour, film, song etc)

  • Your story - you can include a short paragraph about what inspired you to create the piece

  • Details of medium (watercolour, film, song etc)

 

Taking Part (Terms and Conditions)

  • All entries sent to the specified email along with the required details will be considered as part of the Arts in Isolation virtual exhibition.

  • This is a showcase exhibition only and works are not intended for sale.

  • By submitting your work, you agree to allowing us to utilise the work for the purpose of e.g. publicity / marketing etc as required.

  • You also agree to give us permission to add your name to a list of creators.

  • By taking part in the exhibition, you are agreeing for your details to be shared by the Arts Central Gallery and the Art Central Friends database, in relation to the GDPR data protection requirements.  

  • Please clarify and confirm in your email your wish to be added to a general database to be contacted in relation to other arts events and opportunities in the future.

  • Art Central Gallery Curator assisted by the volunteers, at Art Central Friends reserve the right to omit any works deemed unsuitable for public viewing.
