Jackie Moon has worked at the council-owned residential home, Cartref Porthceri, for 15 years. She began her career in the role of kitchen assistant and has more recently been working as a domestic assistant.

She’s since been recognised for her work on several occasions, including the We Care Wales award for Outstanding Services in February of this year.

Cabinet Member for Social Care and Health, Cllr Ben Gray, said: “All of our residential home staff have gone above and beyond this year, providing care for the most vulnerable members of society in exceptional circumstances.

“Jackie’s nomination is well-deserved, as someone who has a history of performing above what is expected. I wish her the best of luck on the awards evening.”

The National Care Awards is an annual event organised by Caring Times magazine, a management magazine for the social care sector. Caring Times reflects the opinions of the social care sector, focusing on news affecting the private, public and not-for-profit providers of nursing and residential care.

The Awards were devised to celebrate the very best people in the long-term care sector, by highlighting excellence and rewarding those who work tirelessly to provide consistently outstanding care.

The Gala Evening and Awards ceremony will be held virtually on November 25, 2020.
