Vale of Glamorgan Council marks Emergency Services Day
Mayor of the Vale of Glamorgan, Cllr Jayne Norman, joined Police, Ambulance and Fire and Rescue personnel to show her support for Emergency Services Day.
Cllr Norman spoke with those who attended an event at the Emergency Service Station in Llantwit Major, her local ward.
Meanwhile, in another event, Deputy Council Leader Lis Burnett and Managing Director Rob Thomas were among those who met at the Civic Offices to honour the occasion, where the Emergency Services flag was flying.
Emergency Services Day, also known as 999 Day, begins at 9am on the ninth day of the ninth month each year, and is marked across the UK by The Queen, the Prime Minister and First Ministers of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.
It offers an opportunity to recognise the heroic men and women of the NHS and emergency services.
Responsible use of these services is also promoted, along with career and volunteering opportunities within the various areas, and education about basic lifesaving skills
Cllr Norman said: “The emergency services play a vital role in protecting and caring for our communities. Never has that been more apparent than during the pandemic when members of these organisations have often gone above and beyond to keep the public safe.
“I know I speak for so many people when I say a heartfelt ‘thank you’ for those incredible efforts.
“As a Council, we are extremely grateful for the commitment, professionalism and selflessness of those who work in the emergency services and I’m proud to be able to express that appreciation today.”
