The park has been transformed into a fun, modern space with upgraded equipment designed for a range of ages, from toddlers to 12-year-olds.

There is a new roundabout, various swings, balance circuit, seesaw, grass and bench area and multiplay zone all on a colourfully designed surface.

Many of the items are inclusive and appropriate for children with additional needs.

An existing climbing frame has also been upgraded, while new trees will be planted in the autumn.

This redevelopment is part of a widespread programme to improve play areas across the Vale.

Cllr Gwyn John, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Sport and Wellbeing, said: “It is great to see the transformation that’s taken place at Windmill Lane play area. Local children now have a modern space to enjoy.

“There is a range of upgraded and new equipment within it, with landscaping work set to take place in the near future.

“This is the latest play area to be upgraded following on from similar projects completed elsewhere in the county.

“It is hoped this work can help promote an active lifestyle and all the health benefits that go with it.”
