There are three events that will take place during August.

The first is a six-hour event, which will take place on Sunday, 07 August, starting at the Memo Arts Centre in Barry. Participants will be given a theme to photograph every hour. These topics will be shared on social media or can be collected at venues across the town.

Participants will then return to the Memo to upload their images. Photographs can be captured on cameras or smart phones. The event is free of charge to take part but you must book tickets in advance.

Smaller, two-hour events will take place every day between 08 and 12 August at various locations across Barry, including Barry Island, Barry Town Centre, the Waterfront, Cadoxton and Porthkerry.

Four topics will be provided over the two hour period. Participants can choose to take part in one, two or all of these events, which are again free of charge.

Cabinet Member for Education, Arts and the Welsh Language, Councillor Rhiannon Birch, said: “We’re so pleased to announce the return of the PhotoBARRYthon as part of Summer of Fun. This will be a fantastic opportunity for children and young people to capture some of Barry’s best assets.

“A top selection of judges has been put together and prizes and certificates will be given to winners.

“It’s been great to see local businesses getting involved, including Marco’s Cafe, Awesome Wales, Craft Republic and Mr Villas. They’ll play host to some of the pick-up points for the challenge.”
