GlastonBarry to rock Romilly Park until 2029 with new licence agreement
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is delighted to announce the approval of a new five-year licence agreement with Mack Events - the organisers of the hugely popular GlastonBarry Festival - securing the much-loved event at Romilly Park until 2029.
Now entering its 12th year, GlastonBarry has become a staple event in the town, attracting thousands of music lovers from across South Wales and beyond.
With an event capacity of 6,000 people each day, GlastonBarry continues to grow in popularity, bringing with it significant economic and community benefits.
An estimated 50% of attendees travel from outside the Barry area, and the festival is believed to generate over £2.19 million for the local economy - offering a major boost to the hospitality and service sectors in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The agreement follows a request from Mack Events to secure greater certainty for planning the festival in the long-term and allows the organisers to continue enhancing the experience for festival-goers and the local community alike.
Cllr Bronwen Brooks, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Sustainable Places, said: “We are proud to support GlastonBarry, and recognise the huge value it brings to Barry and the wider Vale.
“Mack Events have been outstanding partners and have worked closely with us to ensure the festival is safe, well-managed and enjoyed by all.
“This new licence agreement gives them the confidence to continue to build on their successes, and we look forward to seeing GlastonBarry thrive and grow for years to come.”
Matt Blumberg, Director of Mack Events, said: “We are delighted to be working with the Vale of Glamorgan Council again on GlastonBarry. We recognise just how important this event is to the people of Barry and beyond, and as a Barry resident, I am so proud to be able to guarantee this landmark music festival at Romilly Park for the next five years.
“I look forward to this year’s event and the many more to come and wish to thank the Council for their ongoing support and all those who attend our events year on year.”
Under the terms of the new licence, GlastonBarry will continue to take place at Romilly Park, with the central field enclosed for up to seven days to allow for event setup and takedown. The rest of the park will remain open for public use throughout.
All performances each day begin from 12pm and will conclude by 9pm in the evening, with Friday’s show aimed at younger audiences and the Saturday and Sunday events limited to over-18s.
