Leadership opportunites for children and young people

Training and support for young people interested in coaching and sports leadership in the Vale of Glamorgan

A key priority set out in the Vale Sport and Physical Activity Plan is to develop people who have the knowledge and motivation to deliver fun, quality opportunities.  To help us achieve this, we have developed and implemented a number of programmes to support young leaders to inspire, motivate and deliver oppotunities to other children and young people.

Young Ambassadors Scheme

The Young Ambassadors scheme is designed to build the leadership skills of young people, empowering them to be the youth voice for PE and school sport in their school and community.  The Vale Active Young people team has a pathway for the Young Ambassador programme ranging from Bronze level at primary age, through to Gold level.

Young Ambassadors will use their roles to Inspire, Influence, Mentor and Lead within their school or community. We will work with young people to support them in their development as confident, motivated, and skilled young Ambassadors.

Playmakers

Playmakers is a National introductory award to sports leadership for pupils in years 5.   It gives pupils the skills and knowledge to be able to assist in leading their own games and activities in school, at break / lunch-times.   Schools use this award in different ways with some schools using Playmakers to deliver activities to younger year groups or some schools use the Playmakers to deliver activities to target groups within school.   The award focuses on specific skills such as communication, organisation of people and equipment and use of space.  This course is delivered over a school day with flexibility around your requirements and is free of charge.
