Register for Homes4U

To join the housing register you must create an online account and complete a Homes4U application. 

How to Register

1. Create an online account
2. Complete the Homes4U application form
3. Upload your supporting evidence 
4. Submit your application fro assessment

Creating an online account does not complete your Homes4U application. You must also complete and submit the application form.

Evidence You'll Need

You must provide supporting evidence with your application.

This may include:

• proof of identity
• proof of address
• proof of household members
• evidence relating to your housing circumstances

Acceptable forms of ID and Evidence

After You Apply

Once your application has been assessed, we'll send you:

• your banding
• your bidding number

Your banding reflects your housing circumstances and helps determine your priority for housing.

Please keep your bidding number safe, as you'll need it when applying for properties.

Bid for a Home 

Once you're registered with Homes4U, you can apply for suitable properties advertised through the scheme.

Properties may be advertised in different ways depending on the property type and eligibility requirements. The advert will explain which application process applies.

What Happens After You Apply for a Property?

If your application is successful

We'll normally contact you within five working days of the advert closing.

If your application is unsuccessful

Due to the high number of applications received, we're unable to contact unsuccessful applicants individually.

If you have not been contacted within five working days of the advert closing, your application has not been successful on this occasion.

Frequently Asked Questions

• What is my banding?
  Banding reflects your housing circumstances and is used to assess housing priority in line with the Homes4U Allocations Policy.
• What is my bidding number? 
   Your bidding number will be given to you via email when you first apply to the scheme. If you are unable to find your email, please contact your case worker or email homes4u@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk.
  
  Due to high demand, responses may take up to five working days. 
• How will I know if my application is successful? 
   If you're successful, we'll normally contact you within five working days of the advert closing.
• Can I find out my ranking after bidding? 
   Due to the high number of applications we receive, we're unable to provide applicants with their position or ranking following a bidding cycle.
• How can I request a review of my banding? 

   If your circumstances have changed and you believe your banding should be reviewed, please submit supporting evidence to the Homes4U team.

  Acceptable forms of ID and Evidence

• Why was I not successful for a property I bid on? 

  There are a number of reasons why a bid may not be successful. Homes are allocated in accordance with the Homes4U Allocations Policy. This means other applicants may have:

   

  • a higher level of housing need
  • a higher priority band
  • an earlier registration date
  • met specific local connection requirements for the property

   

  For some properties, such as new build homes allocated through the Cascade Approach or homes advertised with a local lettings policy, priority may also be given to applicants with a verified local connection to the area.

   

  As demand for social housing is high, many properties receive a large number of bids. Due to the volume of applications receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback or advise applicants of their position in the bidding list.
