Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, but there are different types – some far rarer than others.
Symptoms normally include memory loss and difficulties with thinking, problem-solving or language. They get worse with time, also affecting people’s mood and behavior. They can become frustrated, irritable, anxious or easily upset and sad.
Around 850,000 people are affected by dementia in the UK. They need support and help from the early stages of this vulnerable situation.
If you are concerned that you or someone you know might have dementia, you should go first to your local GP surgery or contact the National Dementia Helpline on: 0300 222 1122
