    Vale of Glamorgan

English recycles

Vale of Glamorgan residents are doing it in the bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and even in the garden - most of our residents do IT every day and IT is now a BIG part of our lives.

Recycling has now firmly become part of our daily household routine and IT is here to stay - As a nation, Wales is very good at IT and currently has an overall recycling rate of 63%, placing us as one the best recycling nations.

Everyone's Doing IT is the recycling campaign for six local authorities based in South East Wales. Supported and funded by the Welsh Government and adopted locally by each of the partnered local authorities.

As a nation we must continue to build on Wales' success and recycle more, the Vale of Glamorgan has joined forces with Blaenau Gwent, Powys, Cardiff, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Caerphilly to highlight that recycling has no boundaries and even though we may all do IT a bit differently - Everyone's Doing IT! It's time to STOP.THINK.RECYCLE.

The campaign aims to make consumers STOP, THINK and RECYCLE as much as they can and now that more and more people across Wales are choosing to RECYCLE, it highlights that Everyone's Doing IT - and if you're not, why not? It also looks to make consumers think twice about how much they recycle and how they can improve at home, on the move, abroad and even when they are watching their favourite team – Stop. Think. Recycle. There is always time to STOP. THINK. and RECYCLE

Across Wales, shoppers are doing IT, football fans are doing IT, travellers are doing IT and even movie buffs are doing it! Messages have been placed in key locations across South East Wales in a bid to remind and reinforce the need to recycle wherever you are, whatever your doing.

Each Local Authority must hit the Welsh Government recycling target of 70% by 2024/25. Those who fail to meet this target will face large fines that will need to be passed on to its residents.

"Most people across Wales are now recycling which is great news and we must now build on this and encourage people to recycle even more and target those who haven't yet caught the recycling bug to join in. Everyone's Doing IT and if you're not, why not? Together with Blaenau Gwent, Powys, Cardiff, Caerphilly and Vale of Glamorgan we aim to show that there are no boundaries to recycling, wherever you live, whatever the service on offer, there is no excuse not to recycle. Even if we do IT a bit differently, we should be doing it together, for Wales.

By 2024/25 all local councils will need to meet the recycling target of 70% set by the Welsh Government or we will face significant fines that will ultimately be passed on to residents - lets avoid this by uniting to recycle as much as we possibly can. The message is very clear wherever you are, whatever you're doing, join us and STOP.THINK.RECYCLE!"  - Nigel Wheeler, Everyone's Doing IT Campaign
