Applications being taken for 30-hour Childcare Offer

The Vale of Glamorgan Council will begin taking applications for the 30-hour Childcare Offer from 9.00am on Monday 04 March 2019.

Eligible parents can now benefit from an entitlement to 12-and-a-half hours of Foundation Phase nursery care and 17-and-a-half hours of childcare following an announcement by Welsh Government.

 

It is anticipated that childcare will be available following the Easter break on Monday 29 April 2019. 

 

To qualify, a child must be aged three or four and entitled to a Foundation Phase Nursery place in either a school or registered education setting.

 

A parent or parents must be employed or self-employed and permanently reside in Wales.

 

Both parents must be working in a two-parent family, or the sole parent in a lone parent family, and be able to prove that they earn a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at the National Minimum Wage (NMW) or National Living Wage (NLW).

 

Further information will be available to parents on maternity or paternity leave and those on certain benefits when applying.

 

Only childcare providers registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) who agree to the terms and conditions of the offer are able to provide childcare places.

 

Any additional charges, including food and transportation, must be covered by the parent or parents.

 

Funding for childcare is paid directly to participating childcare providers.
