VE Day celebrations

Please note that whilst the usual VE Day parade will not take place at the Civic Offices, Barry, the Union Jack flag will be raised and continue to fly throughout the Bank Holiday weekend.

Make your own bunting

Our Vale Play team have got some great craft and activity ideas, including a scavenger hunt to create your own bunting.

Make your own celebratory hats with this tutorial from the Flying Start team.

Throw a garden party!

Street parties are out, garden parties are in. Grab your picnic blanket, strawberries and favourite bubbly (or non-bubbly!) and head into the garden to celebrate with members of your household.

Of course, a VE Day celebration wouldn't be complete without the quintessential cream tea and scones. If you're feeling adventurous, make your own scones.
