From Monday 12 April 2021, the following relaxations will go ahead:

  • The full return of children to schools for face-to-face education, all post-16 learners will return to further education and training centres, and university campus’ will be able to open for blended face-to-face/online learning for all students

  • All remaining shops will reopen, completing the phased reopening of non-essential retail

  • All remaining close contact services will open, including mobile services

  • Travel restrictions on traveling into and out of Wales will be lifted. However, restrictions on travel to countries outside the Common Travel Area without a reasonable excuse, remain in place. The Common Travel Area means the United Kingdom, the Channel Islands, the Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland

  • Wedding ‘show-arounds’ by appointment are allowed

  • Restrictions on political canvassing are removed, subject to canvassers doing so safely.

 

Self-isolate if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

  • 25/03/2021 - Civic Offices

     

    From Monday 29 March 2021 face to face appointments for some services will be available at the Civic Offices. All customers are asked to wear a mask when visiting the building. 

    You can now book appointments online in advance.

  • 16/03/2021 - Wider Testing
     

    The Cardiff and Vale Test, Trace, Protect Service is now advising that you should book a test if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fatigue, myalgia (muscle ache or pain), a sore throat, a headache, sneezing, a runny nose, a loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea. 

     

    These are in addition to the three most common symptoms of Covid-19: a fever, a new continuous cough or a loss/change of taste and smell.

     

     

  • 12/03/2021 - Schools

    From Monday 15 March all primary pupils and those in qualifications years will return.

     

    Schools will have the flexibility to bring in year 10 and 12 pupils, to support them to progress to the next stage of their learning, and more learners will return to colleges.

     

    There will also be flexibility for in-school check-ins for all other pupils.

     

    All learners will return after the Easter break.

     

    Please note: Vale of Glamorgan schools will contact all parents directly. Follow your school's social media or check their website for updates. 

  • 05/02/2021 - Self-isolation support scheme

    Self-isolation support scheme is designed to help working people on a low income who cannot work from home and will lose earnings when told to self-isolate by the NHS Wales Test,Trace, Protect service (TTP).


    The Vale of Glamorgan Council will be responsible for carrying out the relevant checks and making the fixed £500 payment to those eligible and living in the Vale. This payment will not affect other benefits.

    The temporary increase to four black bag per household will finish on Friday 29 January 2021. 

     

    From Monday 01 February, the two black bag limit per household will be back in place.

    All Beach Huts are now closed until further notice.  Annual pass holders will be contacted directly to arrange a refund.

    Community Centres in the Vale of Glamorgan are closed for non-essential services until further notice. Essential play groups/childcare will remain available. Please contact your local community centre for more information. 

  • 08/12/20 - Events guidance  

    The Vale of Glamorgan Council suspended all outdoor events on its land in response to the coronavirus pandemic and in the interests of public safety. The decision means, events normally held by the Council and by private organisations on Council land, cannot go ahead at the present time. The Welsh Government has also issued guidance in relation to events leading up to Christmas. Please read that guidance carefully.

    Organisations looking to hold events on private land this year, will be advised by the Council to contact the Vale Council's Safety Advisory Group prior and organisers will have to provide comprehensive Covid-19 risk assessment and control measures to protect the public.

    Due to the impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Planning department has adapted the way they work.

    The Homes4U Advert continues to be published, however, the frequency of the adverts will be dependent upon the availability of social housing.

     

    The advert is now only available digitally and can be located on the Council website. Applicants registered to receive the Council’s updates will also be notified when adverts are published.

    Supported Housing

    Continuing to operate with a reduction in staff to ensure social distancing measures. 

     

    The team continues to accept referrals to Supported Housing and suitability assessments are carried over the telephone where possible.

    Accommodation Solutions

    The below services are being completed via phone to support hospital discharges and prevent hospital admission: 

    • Manual Handling Advice / Assessment

    • Assessments for adaptations

    • Advice to health professionals on complex hospital discharges

    Occupational Therapy Assessments to support Homes4U application are now taking place in person.


    Housing Management Services

    Housing Management services are still being carried out where social distancing is possible, with some services altered or temporarily suspended.

     

    Please let us know beforehand if somebody in your household is displaying symptoms of Coronavirus.

     

    • Repairs: Emergency only and some external repairs.

    • Gas and Electrical Safety Checks: Normal service for gas and electrical tests.

    • Cleaning Services: Cleaning services continue at sheltered housing schemes.

    • Grounds Maintenance: Our grass cutting services are ongoing.

    • Independent / sheltered living schemes and hostels: All schemes and hostels are closed to non-essential visitors.

    • Lettings: Letting properties is ongoing where possible.

    • Time banking and Training and Tenant Participation: Most activities are currently suspended. 

    • Estate Inspections: Ongoing with social distancing measures in place. 

    • Ending A Tenancy: You can bring your tenancy to an end by contacting 01446 700111 to give notice and return keys. 

    • Developments: Work on building sites is ongoing with social distancing measures in place.

    • Rent Payments: You can continue to pay your rent by direct debit, standing order, or contact 01446 700111 (C1V) 736815 (automated payment line).
