From Monday 07 June 2021:

  • Regulated events allowed outdoors with up to 10,000 people seated or up to 4,000 people standing (subject to risk assessment)

  • Extended households can be formed between 3 households

  • Up to 30 people can meet in any outdoor area, including private gardens, public spaces and outdoor regulated premises such as cafes, restaurants and bars.

 

Self-isolate if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.

  • 07/05/2021 - Libraries

    Penarth Library has reopened on a controlled basis following extensive refurbishment work.

     

    As with other Vale of Glamorgan libraries, a number of Covid-related safety features have been introduced to help protect visitors.


    There are 20-minute book browsing sessions available along with 50-minute slots for computer use, which must be booked in advance by contacting the respective library.


    Fixed time limits will also mean staff can properly sanitise machines between uses.

  • 03/05/2021 - Leisure Centres 

    Barry, Colcot, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Penarth Leisure centres will all be open for business again from Monday 03 May after the First Minister announced this milestone could be brought forward seven days.

     

    Gym facilities, group exercise classes, swimming lanes and swimming clubs will be up and running, with swimming lessons the only activity not immediately available. They will restart a week later.


    To keep people safe, additional cleaning will take place, some one-way systems have been introduced, and all customers will need to wear masks in certain public areas.

  • 25/03/2021 - Civic Offices

     

    From Monday 29 March 2021 face to face appointments for some services will be available at the Civic Offices. All customers are asked to wear a mask when visiting the building. 

    You can now book appointments online in advance.

  • 16/03/2021 - Wider Testing
     

    The Cardiff and Vale Test, Trace, Protect Service is now advising that you should book a test if you are experiencing any of the following symptoms: fatigue, myalgia (muscle ache or pain), a sore throat, a headache, sneezing, a runny nose, a loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or diarrhoea. 

     

    These are in addition to the three most common symptoms of Covid-19: a fever, a new continuous cough or a loss/change of taste and smell.

     

     

  • 05/02/2021 - Self-isolation support scheme

    Self-isolation support scheme is designed to help working people on a low income who cannot work from home and will lose earnings when told to self-isolate by the NHS Wales Test,Trace, Protect service (TTP).


    The Vale of Glamorgan Council will be responsible for carrying out the relevant checks and making the fixed £500 payment to those eligible and living in the Vale. This payment will not affect other benefits.

    All Beach Huts are now closed until further notice.  Annual pass holders will be contacted directly to arrange a refund.

    Community Centres in the Vale of Glamorgan are closed for non-essential services until further notice. Essential play groups/childcare will remain available. Please contact your local community centre for more information.

    Due to the impact of the Coronavirus Pandemic, the Vale of Glamorgan Council’s Planning department has adapted the way they work.

     

    Most staff are working from home and contactable by their normal contact details.

    The Homes4U Team continue to operate as normal. If you have a Homes4U related query, contact:

    The Homes4U Advert continues to be published, however, the frequency of the adverts will be dependent upon the availability of social housing.

     

    The advert is now only available digitally and can be located on the Council website. Applicants registered to receive the Council’s updates will also be notified when adverts are published.

    Supported Housing

    Continuing to operate with a reduction in staff to ensure social distancing measures. 

     

    The team continues to accept referrals to Supported Housing and suitability assessments are carried over the telephone where possible.

    Accommodation Solutions

    The below services are being completed via phone to support hospital discharges and prevent hospital admission: 

    • Manual Handling Advice / Assessment

    • Advice to health professionals on complex hospital discharges

    Housing Management Services

    Housing Management services are still being carried out where social distancing is possible, with some services altered or temporarily suspended.

     

    Please let us know beforehand if somebody in your household is displaying symptoms of Coronavirus.

     

    • Repairs: Emergency only and some external repairs.

    • Gas and Electrical Safety Checks: Normal service for gas and electrical tests.

    • Cleaning Services: Cleaning services continue at sheltered housing schemes.

    • Grounds Maintenance: Our grass cutting services are ongoing.

    • Independent / sheltered living schemes and hostels: All schemes and hostels are closed to non-essential visitors.

    • Lettings: Letting properties is ongoing where possible.

    • Time banking and Training and Tenant Participation: Most activities are currently suspended. 

    • Estate Inspections: Ongoing with social distancing measures in place. 

    • Ending A Tenancy: You can bring your tenancy to an end by contacting 01446 700111 to give notice and return keys. 

    • Developments: Work on building sites is ongoing with social distancing measures in place.

    • Rent Payments: You can continue to pay your rent by direct debit, standing order, or contact 01446 700111 (C1V) 736815 (automated payment line).
