Gypsy and Traveller

Are you a member of the Gypsy and Traveller communities living in, or travelling through, the Vale of Glamorgan? 

The Vale of Glamorgan Council is currently undertaking a new Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessment (GTAA) to better understand the accommodation needs of Gypsy and Traveller communities within h the Vale of Glamorgan.

The assessment is a statutory requirement under the Housing (Wales) Act 2014 and helps the Council identify the accommodation needs of Gypsies and Travellers and plan future housing and site provision accordingly. Welsh Government guidance requires local authorities to engage directly with Gypsy and Traveller communities as part of this process.

To support this work, the Council has commissioned Opinion Research Services (ORS), an independent research organisation with extensive experience in undertaking Gypsy and Traveller Accommodation Assessments across Wales and the UK.

How You Can Get Involved

As part of the assessment, ORS will be carrying out interviews with members of the Gypsy and Traveller community to understand current accommodation circumstances, future requirements and any housing-related issues.

We encourage anyone from the Gypsy and Traveller community who lives in, travels through, or has connections to the Vale of Glamorgan to take part.

A dedicated consultation page is available where you can register your interest and provide your contact details if you would be willing to participate in an interview with the research team.

Your views will help ensure that the assessment accurately reflects local needs and informs future planning and service provision.
