Workshops and Starter Units

One of the many ways in which the Vale of Glamorgan Council helps local businesses is by providing workshop units and office spaces for start-up and growth businesses.  

  

 

Engine Room

Innovation Quarter, Hood Road, Barry, CF62 5QL

The Engine Room is the Council's flagship centre offering newly refurbished business spaces for start up and growth businesses. 

 

Located within the vibrant Innovation Quarter and close to amenities, it offers bookable meeting space, communal areas, kitchen facilities and free parking.  It also supports active travel with new a cycle store and shower facilities.  

 

There are 11 offices over 2 floors with a lift providing access to the first floor.  The first floor lobby area serves as an informal meeting or breakout space which can be used by all businesses within the building.  Outdoor seating and shelter is available for relaxing and meeting.

Business Service Centre (BSC)

Innovation Quarter, Hood Road, Barry, CF62 5QN

The BSC provides office space and workshop units for start up and expanding local businesses.

 

Located within the vibrant Innovation Quarter and close to amenities, it offers an onsite meeting room and relaxing breakout space, together with kitchen facilities and free onsite parking available to all businesses to use. 

 

The BSC has 8 workshops (523 m2 – 1045 m2) with individual access, and 15 offices (21 m2 – 43m2) over two floors of the building.  A lift can provide access to the first floor.

Coastal Storage Units 

Dunraven Bay, Southerndown 

Five storage units have been created adjacent to the Heritage Coast visiter Centre at Dunraven Bay to encourage local beach and acitivity providers and coastal enterprises to use the Glamorgan Heritage Coast as a base for their business.  Interested businesses must contribute to coastal tourism. The units are now available to let in two sizes and offer a unique coastal location.

Note: The units are purely for storage only and don't have any power, water and lighting.
