Golden Pass Scheme

This project offers Vale residents aged 60+ the opportunity to access eight free sessions of sport and physical activity in their community.

Pension Credit

You may be entitled to claim Pension Credit if you are over state pension age. You may be eligible to top up your weekly income to £182.60 a week for a single person and £278.70 for a couple.

Care and Repair Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan

Funeral Expenses Payment

You could get a Funeral Expenses Payment (also called a Funeral Payment) if you get certain benefits and need help to pay for a funeral you’re arranging.

Dinas Powys Voluntary Concern

Dinas Powys Voluntry Concern provides community transport, prescription collection and telephone or face to face befriending. They also run a number of events such as a soup lunch club, memory cafe, wellbeing garden, afternoon community club, strawberry tea and live music events.

As part of our work to support residents during the cost-of-living crisis we have developed a Warm Spaces scheme. This is a network of community spaces that offer a warm and inviting place to come together this winter at no cost.

‘Llandough Over 50s Coffee Morning’ offers free refreshments, quizzes and other activities from Tuesday 5th September 2023.

Free swimming sessions in the Vale of Glamorgan

Many of our residents are entitled to free swimming sessions at Legacy Leisure centres in the Vale of Glamorgan. This is a dedicated time slot for you to use the swimming pool in, not a swimming lesson.

 

  • People over the age of 60

    Legacy Leisure Centres offer free swimming sessions for people over the age of 60. You can book these sessions online. You will need to register for the 'Aquatically Active Scheme' at reception to redeem your free session. People over the age of 60 can also swim during any other session for £2.70

    Barry Leisure Centre - Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 12.15 - 1pm

    Penarth Leisure Centre - Tuesday and Thursday from 12.30 - 1.30pm

    Llantwit Major Leisure Centre - Tuesdays from 2:15 - 3:15pm

  • Veterans
    Veterans can swim for free anytime at Barry Leisure centre. Please provide proof of your MOD ID at reception to redeem your free swim.
