First Aid Awareness for Unpaid Carers

 

When and where will the training be taking place? 
The training is available on Monday 13th May 2024 between 10:00am - 2:00pm.

 

The training will be taking place at FAST, 305 Gladstone Road, Barry, South Glamorgan, CF63 1NL. 

 

What is the First Aid Awareness training and what is involved? 
The First Aid Awareness training is a 4 hour training session run by FAST - First Aid Supplies and Training in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council. This training will give you a basic understanding of what to do in an emergency and how you can help in the situation.

What is the First Aid Awareness training and what is involved? 
The First Aid Awareness training is a 4 hour training session run by FAST - First Aid Supplies and Training in partnership with the Vale of Glamorgan Council. This training will give you a basic understanding of what to do in an emergency and how you can help in the situation. 

 

The Objectives

The First Aid Awareness training will give participants the opportunity to learn more about: 

·        what to do in an emergency  

·        calling for help 

·        unconscious breathing casualty 

·        the recovery position 

·        choking 

·        CPR, AED Adult and Paediatric 

·        medical emergencies 

·        seizures/asthma and anaphylaxis 

·        control of severe bleeding and shock 

·        burns 

       

Once the training has been completed you will receive a certificate. 

 

How much does this cost? 
Although we are offering this at no cost to you, there is a cost to the Vale of Glamorgan council in the region of £60 per place, so once you have booked your place, please commit to attending on the day, as we will still incur a charge for your non-attendance. 

 

 

NHS Wales Foodwise

Foodwise is our free 8 week weight management course which is open access to anyone with a BMI above 25kg/m2. There are eight sessions and each session is 1 to 1 1½ hours long. Sessions are delivered weekly or fortnightly and either virtually or face-to-face.

NHS Wales Get Cooking

Get Cooking is delivered across Barry with the aim of increasing knowledge and skills of practical cooking skills with underlying healthy eating messages. The sessions are 2 hours a week for a total of 7-8 sessions and are fun and informal.
