Copy Certificates for Births, Marriages, Civil Partnerships and Deaths

 

The Superintendent Registrar holds registration records for births, marriages, civil partnerships and deaths that took place in the Vale of Glamorgan from 1837. For Cardiff, click here

 

Please Note: Registration boundaries have changed over the years and some records may be held in other registration districts.

 

Boundary Information

 

Information can only be released in the form of a certificate. You can apply for a copy certificate by post, telephone or in person. You will need to provide the following information:

  • the type of certificate you are seeking (birth, marriage, death or civil partnership)
  • the name or names the certificate applies to
  • the date of the event
  • the place of the event - for Cardiff, click here.
  • any other relevant information that may help us to locate the certificate

 

Standard Copy Certificates 

 

Cost: £11.00 

Certificate ready for collection after 3.00 pm/2nd class post on 15th working day

 

Priority Copy Certificate

 

Cost: £35.00 

 

Certificate ready for collection after 3.00 pm/1st class post on next working day

APPLICATION FOR BIRTH, MARRIAGE, DEATH CERTIFICATE

 

Apply at Register Office

Applications may be made in person at the Vale of Glamorgan Register Office at the Civic Offices in Barry. This involves the completion of a short application form. Payment can be made by cash, cheque or card. 

 

Apply by post

Applications should be accompanied by a cheque or postal order made payable to: 'Vale of Glamorgan Council'. If multiple certificates are required, we advise that you send separate cheques for each registration entry.

If we are unable to trace the entry you have requested, we will return your cheque or postal order to you.
