Register a Death

All deaths in England and Wales must be registered within 5 days, unless it has been, or needs to be reported to the coroner.

*Due to the Coronavirus pandemic we regret we are currently unable to offer any appointments to register due to the closure to the public of all council buildings/offices.*

You should do this at the register office for the area where the death occurred.

It is possible to make a declaration of a death at your local register office, however this could cause delays to funeral arrangements.

Book Appointment

In order to register a death, a personal visit with the Office of Registration is necessary.
