Update Your Information and Promote Your Service

Vale Family Information Service (FIS) promote all services for families in the Vale via Childcare Information Wales which links to the Dewis Cymru site. 

 

Whether you are a childminder, manage a day nursery or provide a service for children and families in the Vale, you can promote your service and update your details with the Family Information Service online.

 

Add or update your information on www.dewis.wales. Register using your e-mail address and your service(s) will be available for you to review/edit as necessary. After registering, just go to Add/Edit Resources, then My Resources.

 

Your information will expire unless it is updated every 6 months in order to ensure that the information remains current, alternatively you are welcome to update your information as frequently as needed.

Enhanced DBS Checks

Please email dbs@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk to make arrangements.

 

The Vale of Glamorgan Council can provide independent checks for the childcare workforce, with appointments being conducted in the council’s Civic Offices in Holton Road Barry.

 

Vale of Glamorgan DBS Process

 

  1. Contact the Vale of Glamorgan’s HR department on dbs@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk to request a Childcare Workforce Enhanced and Barred List DBS Check. All you need to provide is: First Name / Last Name / Personal E-mail Address
  2. An online application(s) will be set up in an online DBS portal and you will be e-mailed a Username / Password
  3. Complete the application(s) online in the DBS portal
  4. You will be instructed on how to submit your identification.
  5. Hard copy DBS certificates will be sent to each applicant’s home address.
  6. Contact CIW on 0300 7900 126 to register your DBS certificate. Please not this must be done within three months of issue date.
  7. You are also advised to subscribe to the update service at a current cost of £13 per person per year (free for volunteers). Please ensure you register with the update service as soon as you receive your DBS certificate.  Further details can be found via this link:
