Restrictions Business Fund Extension (NDR)

Following the First Ministers announcement 12 March 2021, if you registered your details and received an NDR linked grant for the schemes introduced in December 2020 and subsequently extended, you do not need to take any further action – please do not reapply you will receive automatic payment by 25th March 2021. 


This grant is now closed to new applicants. Based on applications to date, the budget is potentially allocated. 
Should further funding be made available by Welsh Government we’ll let you know via our communication channels.


Eligible Businesses

  • Non-essential retail 

  • Hospitality 

  • Leisure

  • Tourism 

  • All other retail (must have experienced a 40% reduction in turnover due to the current Covid restrictions)

  • Supply-chain business for retail, hospitality, leisure and tourism sectors (must have experienced a 40% reduction in turnover due to the current Covid Restrictions)

Grant A

A £4,000 cash grant payment for eligible businesses with Small Business Rate Relief (SBRR) with a rateable value of £12,000 or less.


Grant B

A £5,000 cash grant payment for eligible businesses with a rateable value between £12,001 and £500,000.


Businesses needing to register will need to be liable as the ratepayer to the local authority and in occupation of the qualifying hereditament on 1st March 2021 and will need to have been actively trading and generating sales revenue up to 6pm on 4th December 2020. 


Before you apply

In order to ensure you are only claiming this grant if you are eligible and to ensure you do not make a false declaration which will result in your application being delayed or rejected, please ready the following carefully:

  • The Retail, Leisure and Hospitality Rates Relief in Wales 2020-21 guidance will be used to determine whether you fall under one of the eligible sectors in line with Welsh Government guidance. Please check this guidance first and only apply if you directly meet the criteria or if you are a supply chain to one of the listed eligible businesses.

  • The businesses forced to close under the current restrictions are listed here. If you have not been forced to close as per this guidance, please ensure you answer correctly as you will be asked further questions to establish whether you are eligible for the grant. If you make a false declaration this will result in your application being delayed or rejected.
