We no longer accept any more than three mixed general waste bags per booking.
All mixed general waste bags must be sorted through on site to ensure all recyclable items are recycled - our site staff are on hand to help.
You can recycle a wide range of materials at the kerbside or at your local Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC). Limiting the amount of general waste coming into the HWRC will encourage customers to recycle as much as they can, helping to keep recycling rates high and general waste rates low in the Vale.
Find a full list of what can and can't be recycled on our A - Z recycling guide.
Please note: We are unable to provide assistance with lifting, so please ensure all waste and recycling is manageable.
Please Note: Rubble and DIY skips at the sites are located at ground level on the flat, requiring a fairly high lift to get material into the skip. Members of the public are advised to approach a member of staff for lifting assistance for heavy loads.
Our recycling centres accept tyres, but will only accept 2 at a time.
If you're planning to dispose of household waste using a vehicle with a trailer or a van you’ll need to buy a permit costing £20.
Please note: We are unable to issue permits for access to any vehicle with a gross weight of over 3330kg.
Not sure what the gross weight of your vehicle is? Before you proceed, you can check on the DVLA website using the Vehicle Registration Number.

How Permits Work
-
Bookings are non-refundable
-
Bag limit: If you are bringing black bags you can only bring 3 bags (maximum 60ltr each) per visit
-
Sort before you go: Please open and sort all your bags before throwing anything away. This helps us make sure recyclable items don’t end up in the wrong place
-
No business waste: We can only accept rubbish from your home – not from businesses or trades
-
The vehicle visiting the HWRC needs to be no heavier than 3330 kg Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). The Gross Vehicle Weight of the vehicle can be located on the door pillar of the driver's side of the vehicle
-
No high-top vehicles are permitted
-
One visit a month: Each household can visit once per calendar month
-
If you need to change your appointment, you will need to give at least 24 hours in advance. We’ll do our best to help, depending on availability. Call us on 01446 700111 to rearrange an appointment. This service is only available during office hours 08:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday
It is no longer permitted to place gypsum and plasterboard in general skips/mixed refuse containers at our civic amenity sites. Small quantities of gypsum such as plasterboard, plaster and other gypsum products produced from home DIY may be accepted at Atlantic Trading Estate and Llandow if it is separated at home, brought to the attention of staff on arrival and placed in a special separate container for gypsum products only. Failure to inform the crew on site you have gypsum waste may lead to residents being asked to reload their vehicle and remove the material from the facility.
