Day Opportunities  

We provide and support day opportunities in a variety of settings, including social outreach at home and community and centre-based activities within the Vale of Glamorgan.

 

We offer these services to people aged 18 years and over and they are designed to help people to live as independently as possible. Services for Older people are provided in partnership with Carers Trust South East Wales and Hafod.

The aims of the services that we provide are:

  • To promote independence and personal development
  • To reduce social isolation
  • To provide respite for carers at home
  • To focus upon positive outcomes to meet individual needs
  • To provide intensive support for people who exhibit challenging behaviours or have high support needs.

Who do we support?

We support older people, adults living with dementia, adults with learning disabilities and younger physically disabled adults. The services by nature also provide advice and support for carers.

Rondel House Day Opportunities

Rondel House is an integrated Day Opportunities Service for Older People with assessed complex needs, provided in partnership with Vale of Glamorgan Council and Carers Trust South-East Wales (CTSEW). The service is based in Rondel House Community Hub, situated in Maes Y Cwm Street, Barry and provides a service for older people who live in the Central and Eastern areas of the Vale of Glamorgan.

 

The service is a centre of excellence to predominantly support older people living with Dementia and their carers. Rondel House is in the centre of Barry and aims to contribute to and support a developing Dementia friendly community. Our focus is to meet the assessed needs of service users and carers, promoting and enabling continued independence, providing information, support, reablement opportunities and care services.

 

 

New Horizons and Learning Disability Day Opportunities

New Horizons and Learning Disability Day Opportunities provides opportunities for people who have a permanent /substantial physical disability, are between18 - 65 years old and live in the Vale of Glamorgan. New Horizons is part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Social Services Department. The service is delivered by a dedicated and experienced team of staff.

 

The service provides a range of therapeutic/creative activities including a specialist gym, woodworking, arts & crafts, specialist exercise classes, music, community activities and sport. We also provide personal care, advocacy, support for communication, emotional support and respite for carers. Our aim is to improve people's well being by improving their health, social life, independence, confidence, maintain and develop skills and enjoy life; all in a supportive and encouraging environment.

 

Learning Disability Day Opportunities

We provide meaningful day opportunities to adults with a learning disability, who also have a complex presentation of need.

 

We are located in Barry and deliver day opportunities from our two bases, as well as various community locations, serving citizens across the whole of the Vale.
