Older People's Strategy

The Vale of Glamorgan Council works to support the objectives of the following national programmes throughout its service delivery and in partnership with the University Health Board, Public Health Wales and the Third Sector.

The Welsh Government Strategy for Older People launched it's third phase in May 2013. Phase 3 is a ten year plan covering the period 2013 -2023 and the strategy will focus on a triad model of Social Resources, Environmental Resources and Financial Resources.

The strategy is designed to help focus and co-ordinate thinking and action in local authorities, health authorities and the voluntary sector on meeting the needs and aspirations of older people and how best to meet those needs.

In 2016 Welsh Government announced that the strategy will be revised to reflect a number of new legislative frameworks including the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 and the Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015.
