Election Staffing Opportunities

We are currently in the process of reviewing our staffing database for future elections. 

 

If you are interested in working at elections or for the Electoral Registration Team during canvass, please click the below link and complete the Election Staffing Interest form. This will need to be completed by new staff who are interested and those who have previously worked for us.

 

If you do not complete the form below you will not be added to the database and will not be contacted to work at any future elections. Please complete the form as soon as possible.

Presiding Officer (Polling Station)

Three years experience as a Poll Clerk is required for this post.

 

Please note that hours of work would be from 6.30am to 10.30pm.

 

Poll Clerk (Polling Station)

Assisting the Presiding Officer with duties at the Polling Station.

 

Please note that hours of work would be from 6.30am to 10.30pm

 

Count Staff

Ballot paper verification, counting ballot papers and any other count duties as required.

 

This includes overnight work and/or weekend work.

 

Canvassing Staff

Canvassers will be making direct contact with residents. The Electoral Registration Officer is required to undertake an annual canvass of residential addresses in the Vale of Glamorgan to attain the names and addresses of persons who are entitled to be registered but who currently are not and details of those persons who are registered but are not entitled to be.

 

The October canvass will take place over 3 weeks (Canvassers will have some flexibility on which days they work).

 

As a Canvasser you will be paid £1, per property. You will also be granted a fuel allowance.

 

Applicants must fit the following requirements:

  • 18 years of age or over

  • Have access to a vehicle

  • Willing to work anywhere in the Vale

  • Have the right to work (ID checks will be made)

  • Have the ability to use a tablet and our Paticip8 database (training will be provided)
